More like MuLAMEy...
What's a good way to see if a show is funny or not? Probably getting a group of drunk college kids together to sit down and watch it. Don't worry- they're all legal. Yes, it's a Sunday night but that's college for you.
John Mulaney, a comedian from Chicago, is the creator and star of his new sitcom, "Mulaney". Yeah, the title is pretty original. Starting off resembling the classic sitcom "Seinfield", the drunks were quickly disappointed.
"You're kidding me," said one.
"No...he isn't... is he," asked another.
Natalie covered her faced, sighed, and shook her head as the comedian stood on a dimly lit stage performing his stand-up material. His old, very used, stand-up material.

John Mulaney, a very funny man, is known for his stand-up special "New in Town" (available on Netflix- I highly recommend it). Full of sarcastic, awkward jokes and hilarious stories, Mulaney's "New in Town" got everyone excited to hear his newer material. So, when my friends and I heard he had a new show coming out, we were excited.
So when the show started off with the exact same routine as his Netflix special, the drunks were pretty angered.
As the show went on, Mulaney switches from a stand-up comedy show setting to a sitcom setting. Instead of simply telling the same jokes, Mulaney simply acted them out.
"Oh, my God" said one.
"Wait," one sat up in her chair, as if she needed to look closer at the show.
"Turn this off right now," said one as he threw the remote. (I'm not sure why he didn't turn off the TV instead of throwing the remote but that's forever a mystery)
At one point, Natalie, getting increasingly frustrated with the overused jokes from Mulaney's "New in Town", just closed her eyes to stop watching.
"Turn this off right now- change it to football," said one who has never showed any interest in sports ever before.
And so, not even ten minutes into the show, I was alone in the living room watching as Mulaney acted out the infamous doctor joke about getting his prostate checked.
What was really frustrating about the whole show was that, not only was Mulaney reusing old material, he was doing it verbatim. Every joke he said was said the exact same way as it was originally performed. How lazy is Mulaney that he can't even come up with a different way to say the same joke?
Although he's funny and very, very handsome, John Mulaney's new sitcom did not start off well. I mean, really, if you can't fool a group of drunk college students into laughing at your old material, can you do anything? Hopefully the next episode, if they even air another one, will save John Mulaney's reputation amongst us college kids.
