THE TRUE AUTHENTIC
Authenticity is a big deal in the critique of ethnic restaurants. Was the restaurant truly authentic or was it just trying to pass for it. The decadence of food is what entices me the most. I believe that authentic should be erased entirely from the vocabulary when critiquing food. The true authenticity lies in the deliciousness of the food, and I have found the true “authentic” specimen of this paper. Its incredible how two words put together can tell a story, especially when they are on top of a restaurant. When I pull into the parking lot of Taco Bell I know I am just a few moments away from being served the most incredible kind of Mexican imaginable, and at a college student’s ideal price range.
You open those brass handled doors and you are caressed by the aroma and sights that Taco Bell has to offer. The combining colors of purple and gold invite you to embrace the lavish royal luxuries you are about to consume. You enter the restaurant to see warm relaxing colors before you, inviting you to join the beautiful Mexican culture. The seating arrangements are flexible to the number in your party and there is always plenty of lighting so you can see the exquisite works of art you get served. The menu is presented beautifully along the wall so you can see the images of your selection up front. You order upon arriving and then grab the perfect seating arrangement for your fancy dinner party. While waiting for your meal to be crafted by the highly qualified chefs, you can gaze at the beautiful artwork on the walls or you can enjoy the seductive music playing above. Once your number is called there is no turning back from the potential love affair you are about to enter into. The intensity of unraveling your own meal, which they expertly wrapped in the kitchen, is intoxicating and one of the most important moments of the experience. The color combinations of the food are always enjoyable and impressive. The images of the golden corn shell filled with yellow cheese strips, crispy green lettuce, and brown beef dance across your tray and paint a colorful picture before consumption. Steam from the hot cheese fogs up my glasses and fills my nostrils with a sweet yet spicy aroma.
No matter what you order on the menu at Taco Bell there is always an array of colors and smells presented before you making the experience so much more enjoyable. The employees always smile and offer you a chance to win 500 dollars on the recipe, and there is a sense of family between you and all the other Taco Bell customers. The true authenticity of a restaurant relies on the experience and the taste of what you consume and I have never been disappointed. Taco Bell is authentic in my eyes and I hope their beautiful establishment is never shut down.
